1924 : The Basque and Bayonne History Museum opens its doors. The first edition of Bulletin du Musée Basque (BMB – Bulletin of the Basque Museum) is published.
1956 : SAMB, the Society of Friends of the Basque Museum becomes a reality. It is a non-profit association under the French law of 1901 and contributes to the influence of the Museum by:
– publishing the Bulletin du Musée Basque (Basque Museum Bulletin), a biannual journal in French and Euskara that explores history, society and Basque culture. All articles are accessible using our search engine (in French).
– organizing events: conferences, guided tours of the Museum, exhibitions and themed outings
– participating in Museum life especially by developing its collections through patronage and philanthropy. 
Above all the SAMB is enriched by the diversity of its members who act together in a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
